Intervention Maps Anxiety

If anxiety is affecting you or someone you love, including after several treatments have not been enough: you are in the right place.

Anxiety: what non-drug and adjunctive evidence actually supports

Structured psychotherapy led by CBT and exposure sits at the center of non-drug care. Structured online CBT delivers that same content in a different format. Standardized mindfulness and acceptance courses are a real short-term option. Exercise is a complementary or adjunctive treatment. Herbal and nutraceutical products are not one aisle: their evidence and safety differ agent by agent.

Medication, mainly SSRIs and SNRIs, is a legitimate first-line option and the comparison point behind this page, not its subject. Structured psychotherapy, led by CBT and exposure, is the non-drug center of gravity on this map. This is not personal medical advice and not a plan to start or stop medication. Use it to have a better conversation with your clinician, or a pharmacist when herbs or supplements are on the table.

Generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety share one map here. Your specific diagnosis changes some of the details, such as how large the therapy benefit tends to be and whether therapy and medication have been compared directly. Each answer below flags where that matters. You do not need to know your exact diagnosis to use the map.

What are you trying to figure out?

Find your question. Everything below earns a place here. Grouping helps you locate it. Nothing important is removed.

Every question in this index now has a written answer. The grouping stays complete so you can compare core CBT-based care, a structured alternative, exercise, and stratified herbal options without flattening their differences. Medication is described inside these answers as a comparator, not ranked here as a drug guide.
