Traditional Therapy Profiles
Names collapse different things into one word. This guide separates them again. A translation layer for names patients and families use in South Asian traditional therapies.
Articles investigate questions over time; these profiles stabilize names and categories. It orients; it does not recommend. How to read these profiles.
Why this guide exists
Many names in South Asian traditional medicine carry several meanings at once. A single word may refer to a plant, a classical formulation, a proprietary product, a family habit, or a retail category. Over time, conversations become confusing before anyone even reaches the evidence.
This guide exists to separate those objects again so each can be understood on its own terms. The goal is orientation, not endorsement or dismissal. Some entries summarize substantial human research. Others cover areas where evidence is limited, mixed, or still developing. Limited evidence is not proof that something cannot work; it means we should be careful about claiming more than current research can support.
